NO MAN EYES – Cosmogony review

 NO MAN EYES – Cosmogony
Diamonds Prod. Records
NO MAN EYES from Italy exist since 2011 and in 2013 they released their debut album entitled “Hollow Man”. Now, 2 years after their debut release and under a new label they are ready to release their new work entitled “Cosmogony”.
Their new release carries of course a title that shows ambition and somehow describes the thing that every artist does, which is the creation of worlds through its art and more specifically here through music.
The label has tagged NO MAN EYES under the heavy metal genre, but I have to admit that there is more in their sound than simple heavy metal riffs and melodies. The sound of the band is an amalgam of traditional and modern metal elements with the second ones overruling. Their sound has grooves, melodies and riffs that are close to genres like modern melodic thrash metal and melodic death metal. The band, though, uses clean vocals and their songs have a structure that you usually meet into progressive metal. Personally speaking I think that in a way they are close to bands like NEVERMORE (although these guys are more melodic) and EVERGREY, but they also have their own musical identity.
“Cosmogony” is an album that has variety and complexity and I think that people who are into modern metal might find here an interesting release to listen to. In my opinion, though, this album lacks of songs that will stay in your mind since the band pays more attention to create compositions based on technicality and complexity.
