MEMORAIN – Duality of Man review

 MEMORAIN – Duality of Man
Rock Of Angels Records
MEMORAIN in my mind is the well hidden secret of the Greek metal scene. I mean that although they release albums on a constant basis, nobody has emphasized on them as they do on other Greek metal releases. It is something that I can’t explain, since MEMORAIN through the years have released many good albums (I have them all) and have cooperated with some great musicians of the worldwide heavy metal scene. “Duality of Man” is their seventh official release which finds them again (I think after many years) in a Greek label.

Musically the band has not changed from what it was playing from the beginning of its career. Actually it is one of these bands that prove that you can stay focused on one musical genre and evolve it. I mean that this is the true meaning of progress. So, in their new release we will once again listen to some thrash and speed metal tunes that have their origins in the American metal sound. I think that an experienced ear can find in the sound of MEMORAIN references to such bands like ANNIHILATOR, METALLICA, MEGADETH and TESTAMENT.
The things that make the sound of MEMORAIN recognizable, which you will find here too, are the steady and bombastic rhythm section, the riffs that make your head bang like you are in trance and of course the leads and solos which are in a proper quantity and quality that each songs needs and give to it the elements that make it recognizable.
The lyrics of the album have to do with fantasy stories and human emotions which somehow justify the album title. By the way the album title is beautifully represented on the cover of the CD which shows a human face whose half looks like an angel and the other half looks like a devil.
Finally in this album you can also find some great guest appearances like Blaze Bayley, David Ellefson, Steve Conley and Michael Gilbert.
The moshpit maniacs have to check out this release which moves on high standards as MEMORAIN have got us used to all these years.
